As of 22 April 2020, the Amazon Web Service (AWS) Africa Region is live in Cape Town.
Utilising this new infrastructure AWS administrators can now enable the Africa region through the AWS Portal.
The new AWS Africa Region infrastructure meets the highest levels of security, availability, compliance, and data protection.
The availability of the AWS Africa Region presents a great opportunity for African Organisations and Developers to better leverage AWS cloud storage and computation services at a lower latency than if they were connected to the European or Untied States Regions. The addition of the AWS Africa Region will better enable organisations across Sub-Saharan Africa and African to leverage advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), mobile services, and more to drive innovation.
